Meet Hunter

Background

Experience

Hunter Bonner is a born and bred Texan, whose family roots date back to pre-Republic of Texas days.

He graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems.  His professional career includes working as a licensed stock broker for 8 years, and for the last 25 years as a IT Administrator for various companies and city governments.

He owns his own IT consulting company, servicing not only Marion County, but East Texas and beyond.

Bonner has been involved in local government for a number of years.  He has served on local government boards and commissions.

Locally in Marion County, he has spoken at city council meetings in Jefferson, as well as speaking at Marion County Commissioner's Court.  In 2021, he worked with the commissioner's court regarding the County Assistance District, a program to address failing Marion County roads and help fund the Sheriff's Office.  He helped educate the public on the purpose and use of funds and to raise ballot awareness.  As a result, the measure passed overwhelmingly.

In 2025, Hunter, along with others, worked to raise awareness of, and oppose, a potential water rights sale from Lake O' The Pines.  Working with our State Representative, as well as legislators, council members, and county commissioners in Marion and neighboring counties, town halls were held to educate the public on this important matter.

Additionally, he attended a number of city council meetings in the water district, and publicly spoke against any water rights sale from LOTP.  He led a successful resolution being passed by the Marion County GOP CEC opposing any water rights sale.

When it came time for legislative action, as Republican Chairman, Bonner aggressively issued "calls to action" to contact legislators to ensure HB5659, which related to NETMWD interbasin transfers of water, got passed.

Hunter Bonner helped form Marion County's first Republican Club, the Marion County Republican Assembly in 2022.  This organization was formed to help with voter education and to get local Republicans more involved with the Republican Party and Republican priorities.  Since it's formation, candidates for office, as well as local, state, and federal elected officials have spoken at these meetings providing voter contact with our elected leaders.

Hunter has been married to his wife, Lynnette, for 21 years, and they have two children, Alexis and Hunter II.
